Truecaller ending support for BlackBerry 7, Nokia Series 40 and Symbian

Truecaller app, popular for being able to show caller ID for numbers not on your contact list has announced that starting in September 2016, it’ll be discontinuing its app on older platforms. Operating systems affected include Nokia Series 40, Symbian and, unsurprisingly, BlackBerry 7.

“With the evolution of how phones have changed throughout the years, so has the technology of Truecaller. These platforms simply cannot offer the kind of capabilities we need to explore and grow our app’s features for the future.” Truecaller stated on its blog.

The company however acknowledged that these now legacy OSes were instrumental to its growth and they’ll never be forgotten.

In fact, back in 2009, phones running these OSes were the foundation on which the app was built, however, 2016 is a long way from 2009 and a lot has obviously changed since then.

If you are currently using a mobile device running one of the discontinued OSes and find that TrueCaller is an integral part of your mobile experience, you might want to consider getting yourself an Android, iOS, BlackBerry 10 or Windows 10 device to continue enjoying the app.
